It's been refreshing in 2016 to see all the viable candidates garner more fair media coverage and inclusion in the polls used by the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) to determine invitations to the debates. Candidates require 15% polling for such invitations, but two of the four viable candidates (with "viable" defined as qualified on enough state ballots theoretically to win) are not being treated fairly by pollsters that do not include their names.
Pollsters exclude Dr. Jill Stein of the Green Party and Governor Gary Johnson of the Libertarian Party from what's called the "Top Line" comparison question, where voters are asked for their preference among choices. Minor but viable party candidates are asked only in a follow-up question, a practice which biases their polling results downward - thus jeopardizing their appearance in the debates. We need your help to contact the pollsters to stop this unfair treatment!
The CPD recently announced the polls it will use to determine what candidates can be in the debates. Here are the contact emails/sites of the organizations:
If you can contact these organizations and request that viable candidates Governor Gary Johnson and Dr. Jill Stein be included in their top-line question with celebrity Donald Trump and Secretary Hillary Clinton, participating in this action could influence pollsters to implement #FairPolling - and would increase the accuracy of the poll results. Ask other voters and friends please to make these contacts. Keep up the good fight!
If you get any response from any of the pollsters, please comment at the FairDebates TaskForce FB group to help others get active with this cause.
