Democrat opponents of a proposed "three-strikes" law that passed the House and is making its way through the Senate committee process got a boost from a former Republican governor.

Gary Johnson, who served two four-year gubernatorial terms as a Republican, formally switched to the Libertarian Party about four years ago. He's currently running for the Libertarian Party's nomination for president.

House Bill 56 is scheduled for a hearing the Senate Public Affairs Committee later today.
