August 10, 2018, Salt Lake City, UT -- Governor Gary Johnson has announced that he is stepping down as Honorary Chair of the Our America Initiative, and that former Massachusetts Governor Bill Weld will assume leadership of the nonprofit organization.

Weld, Governor of Massachusetts from 1991 to 1997, is a nationally-recognized advocate for civil liberties and limiting the size and scope of government.  He has served as an honorary board member of the Our America Initiative, and was the Libertarian Party’s nominee for Vice-President in the 2016 election.

The Our America Initiative is a 501(c)4 issue advocacy organization which promotes the liberty movement in all 50 states. Our America is also a leader in efforts to level the playing field for third parties and independent candidates.

Accepting the honorary position, Weld said, “The Our America Initiative, with thousands of supporters across the country, has grown to become a unique gathering place for not just the Liberty Movement, but independents and activists who reject stifling partisanship and want fairness in the public square. I am pleased to assume the post of honorary Chair, and look forward to carrying on the fight for less government in our lives and more freedom.”
