Lobby Day 2015

March, 2015 - Lobby Day includes not just any day during the state's legislative session in which a voter advocates law changes in person with a politician, but also any day during the session in which one sends an email or makes a call to that politician.  Our America Initiative encourages emails and other advocacy to repeal Common Core's federal school standards takeover, another to stand up for the rights of parents in their children's education and health decisions, a bill to stop the forfeiture of defendants' assets without even a conviction, and a proposal to reverse the arbitrary limit on ammunition rendering almost meaningless the constitutional right of armed defense.  Specifically, we join Stop Common Core Colorado in supporting a bill by Representative Klingenschmitt to repeal the federal government's Common Core takeover of state autonomy on K-12 standards.  We advocate also for SB 077, Senator Neville's bill to clarify parental control over their children's educational and health decisions.  We support SB 006 by Senator Woods, to allow the forfeiture of defendants' assets only after conviction.  Finally, we favor SB 175 (Holbert) to repeal the large-capacity ammunition magazine ban.  Anyone can participate at home - either by sending an email to your reps and senators in behalf of these four bills, or by emailing your politicians a request to meet in their district offices to support the proposals.

Repeal Common Core

November, 2014 -  Our America Initiative supports Stop Common Core Colorado's urging of citizens to sign this letter opposing the federal government's takeover - known as "Common Core" - of state education standards.  Your signed letter will be hand-delivered to the State Education Board, letting them know of our opposition to Common Core's unproven standards, data collection on children, educators & households, fiscal irresponsibility, and education without representation.  You can click here too to send an email opposing Common Core to your state legislators and board members.  Stopping Common Core is a mere defensive effort to keep Washington, D.C. from further denigration of a state's traditional control over education.  To help Our America Initiative plan for longer-term education reform, focusing on giving parents more choices than those dictated by government bureaucrats, take a look please at our Education Reform Advisory Council, and consider a donation to empower our 50 state grassroots teams.

Save our Shotguns 2014 - Save Our Shotguns, a Colorado grassroots initiative seeking repeal of a recently passed bill that limits ammunition magazines to 15 rounds.  The grassroots effort is trying to put a measure on the 2014 ballot that would let voters decide whether to undo House Bill 1224.

Our America Initiative supporters can help by contacting, to sign and circulate a petition and contribute financially.  Volunteers are currently circulating petitions throughout Colorado at gun shows and other friendly events. Donations can be made here.
