Stop Jones Act Hike on Import Prices

May, 2015 - Our America Initiative supports voluntary, free trade, and opposes welfare for corporations such as protectionism that helps a few influential cronies at the expense of everyone else.  A blatant example of protectionism that raises costs for Hawaii consumers stems from the1920 Jones Act, a law requiring use of American-built freighters and mostly American crews to bring American imports - including energy - to the islands.  Hawaiians import over 80% of everything they consume, and Jones Act restrictions raise the price of everything sold in the noncontiguous states like Hawaii.  We urge emails to representatives and senators to pass HR 21, legislation to allow non-US built ships to compete, to bring down the price of imports.  With your donation now and input from our Advisory Councils on Trade and OverRegulation, we could advocate free trade through more of our fifty state affiliates.

The OUR America Initiative is a 501(c)(4) political advocacy committee and may receive unlimited donations from both individual and corporate donors. Contributions and gifts to Our America Initiative are not deductible for Federal income tax purposes.. Our America Initiative has a no refunds policy.
