Lobby Day

Feb 11 at 11am! - Our America Initiative encourages attendance on February 11th, Wednesday, for Public School Options' Oklahoma Capitol Day, 11am at the Capitol Building's South Plaza .  While our state has progressed further than many other states in offering educational choices to parents, Oklahoma continues to perform poorly in national rankings, coming in 48th among all states in one recent analysis.  On Lobby Day, then, parents and education reform activists will educate politicians on the several law change proposals such as HB 1696 (increasing reach of the Oklahoma Charter Schools Act) and HB 2132 (giving parents greater rights to choose their children’s education path). This is a FREE event and all are encouraged to attend!  The day will kick-off with a rally spotlighting parental choice in education, honoring Legislative Champions, and thanking parents and activists for making a difference by showing support for our children’s future.  After the rally, join us in the Capitol where we will have COMPLIMENTARY LUNCH, FREE T-SHIRTS, and PRIZES. Throughout the day Education Leaders will be available to answer your questions about school choice. You will also have a chance to visit with your local lawmaker and be recognized by legislators in the Capitol chambers!  RSVP HERE.

Private Transportation Choice

September 2014 - Our America Initiative is a cosponsor of the Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs' protection of consumer rights to enjoy private, affordable options in transportation, specifically with the Uber and Lyft ride-sharing applications.  These competitors to traditional Taxi services are being threatened with smothering regulations from the Oklahoma City Council, and your help is needed to contact those council members to oppose the Uber ride-sharing app restrictions sought by the Taxi industry.  Protecting consumer transportation options is the cause in the short term.  Longer term we would extend regulatory relief to the taxi industry, not just allow competition against them.  To promote regulatory relief for all businesses, Our America Initiative has an Advisory Council on Over Regulation.  Your donation now would support our promotion of the right of entrepreneurs to offer more and better choices to consumers, free of restricting red tape.
