Our America Initiative

Redefining the liberty movement in America!

Feb 12, 2016 - Our America Honorary Chair and Governor Gary Johnson has letter opposing Three Strikes law expansion read on floor of New Mexico Senate.  From the letter:  "We all want to reduce violent crime. But "three strikes" laws and mandatory minimums serve only to clog up prisons, remove common sense judicial discretion...and do NOT make us safer."

Feb. 12, 2016 iSideWith.com founder interviewed about the 28 million voters that have taken the presidential quiz to get matched to a candidate that agrees with how one responds to a series of questions on important issues.  Click here to take the quiz.

January 10, 2016 - Our America Honorary Chair and Governor Gary Johnson interviewed on the prospect of a strong third party option for voters in the 2016 election.  Excerpt:  "In 2016, he said, “frustration levels are at all-time high” and voters fed up with the choices of the two major parties might give him a second look...Johnson was also hopeful about the prospects of a lawsuit against the Commission on Presidential Debates, the non-partisan, not-for-profit body which determines debate rules, in an attempt to force it to allow third-party candidates on to the stage in the fall."

January 5, 2016.  Our America Initiative Honorary Chair and Governor Gary Johnson responds to the Republican Party's rejection of its lone libertarian candidate.  "With (Senator Paul's) departure from the presidential race, there is no voice remaining to challenge failed military interventions, mass surveillance of Americans by their government, or real cuts in the size and cost of government."

Dec 8, 2015.  RT touts election coverage fairness with more fair coverage of third party alternatives.  "Debates between the Democrat and the Republican were said to be a "mockery of a democracy" and "a farce of a debate," as the two candidates' positions on several issues of state importance appeared essentially very similar, if not the same – especially their stance on foreign policy. Some issues were ignored altogether.  It was the third party candidates, especially the Green Party's Jill Stein and the Libertarian Party's Gary Johnson, who suggested that America "should not bomb Iran," and should "end the war in Afghanistan." They also pushed for a milder stance on whistleblowers and called for the cessation of legal action against them."

Dec 7, 2015.  Salon covers the GOP's rejection of libertarian candidates, ideas and donors.  "The short-term answer clearly involves the rise of Donald Trump. If you’re Rand Paul, it would be difficult to draw any other conclusion. The 10 percent to 20 percent of the Republican primary base that might normally turn out for a Ron or Rand Paul has shifted to the populist, xenophobic camp of Donald Trump. Libertarians come in all shapes and sizes, and if the polls are to be believed, many prefer at this moment to support a candidate who gives voice to their frustrations rather than their hopes for reducing the scale and size of government."

Nov 27, 2015.  Our America Honorary Chair and Governor Gary Johnson criticizes New Mexico Governor Martinez for unwillingess to accept "fair share of Syrian refugees".  “We more than share in the responsibility for them being there in the first place...Recently, the governor of Indiana was sued by the American Civil Liberties Union for attempting to block state services to refugees."
